Great article, but he really does need to correct all his "If your" (grammatical errors, should be you're, and no I'm not a grammar nazi, just an ex-author who can spot errors in others' work but not my own kek).
He's old, knows he's guilty, knows "they caught him", and doesn't want to die in prison (75 with a 5-year sentence = potentially getting out versus potentially many more years = effectively a life sentence) and is almost certainly flipping on others to get the "deal" he accepted.
RICO cases are a lot about "strategy"; they "work their way up the chain" by going after lower-level criminals/operatives, getting them to rat out higher-level criminals/operatives (BTW - early-movers, like Bolton and Comey, get the best "deals"), and progressively expanding the "net" with each prosecution/deal "up the chain" until reaching the highest levels with - by that time - a wealth of evidence and incriminating testimony from the lower-levels that "takes them down" (often with no, or very few, options for "deals").
I heard he shaved off his stash and walked out. Nobody knew who he was.

And he inserts "of" unnecessarily as in "alongside of" and "inside of".
You could volunteer to help him proof read his articals....

I wonder why he went down so easy, when worse than he are still running free.

A good reporter on our side. Worth the read.
Worth reading.
