That decision likely wasn’t made by the plant manager. That kind of risk and associated liability is something that would have only been greenlit by Corporate Brass. The Manager and HR coordinator were likely the designated fall guys. High enough to give the Feds and general public their pound of flesh and put on a show of holding greedy companies accountable.
But easily replaceable in the long term. Now if they start hauling in CEOs, CFOs and corporate executives green lighting it. Then you’ll start getting somewhere
They’ll likely turn around and hire more as soon as the heat’s off and attention is elsewhere. They may make a show of complying for a year or two.
But lots of factory/foundry jobs have long hours, shit benefits, tight production schedules, pay isn’t great, and depending on how cheap/shady the outfit is run. Aren’t exceptionally safe because proper repair/maintenance equals downtime and downtime costs money. So turnover is high. Not that the owners particularly care. As they often draw staff from illegals and or other assorted dregs of society who don’t have many options. It’s the only they can keep the plants staffed and keep the profit margins Shareholders and Corporate Boards demand.
They’ll eat the costs in the short term. But in the long term they’ll likely return to illegals. They’ll work for less, won’t demand much in the way of benefits if any, tolerate more bullshit, won’t bat an eye on Corporate cheaping out, and they can hold an ‘anonymous tip’ to ICE/Border Patrol over their heads if they get too uppity.
Looks good on paper BUT….both the Mgr and HR person knew what they were doing. Probably getting a bonus for labor cost goals even? I mean, I HOPE Bill Gates goes down. A lot of them should, but I’ll take the hands on, day in, day out people who WILLINGLY break the law all table flipping day long. Get em all, Mr. Holman—shake it all out!!
Apparently ICE is in my city in north Louisiana. I haven’t heard of any arrests yet, but I’m hopeful. Boy do we have a large illegal population here. Just go to the grocery stores on the weekends.

I am sure if the illegals are gone, the CEOs and CFOs will be scrambling and don't dare to hire any more. What do you think?
You don't want to close the plant. You want to keep the others employed.

AND they may take a deal to give up the real decision makers.
We need more of this and it should include owners of the business as well.
Not yet. You don't want to close down the whole plant with lots of people out of work (if there's legit Americans still working there).
Fine them a lot of money though.
Most people who hire illegals won’t have Americans on the payroll other than the people who helped bring the illegals in.
I think you are correct.
Great news, two different states have employers facing charges. Scrolling down looking for more!
Meanwhile here in Northern California there are more illegals taking jobs than ever before. No mass deportation happening here.
California, of course.
Yes!
