My son’s high school marching band was to perform. We got the sad news 2 hours ago, but it was the right decision. 115 degrees and no shade wearing heavy uniforms, carrying heavy instruments wasnt going to be good for many involved.

Chance of thunderstorms. Also, it doesn't cool off that much at night. Even after 8-9 pm, temps will be in high 80s.

Can't help but wonder if the heat dome that blanketed a big part of the mid-west and east was engineered in some way? Trump has been planning the big American Fair and the D.C. celebrations for years. It's strangely odd that we got this big weather event over the days leading up to and including July 4.

We are here, and if your son is wearing blue shirts we saw them! A whole herd of kids. I will say, it is so stinking hot here. I know it would have been exciting, but I really think people would have been dropping from the heat.
Maybe they can wear their school t-shirts and walk around the festivities! There is so much going on, and I will be sure to high five them and talk to them if I have a chance. I will make sure these kids are still recognized. I would not have thought of that before this post, now I will go out of my way for any kid that looks like they are here with their school.
Tell him to watch the airplane flyovers! It's amazing. Seriously AMAZING. The sound bouncing off the buildings is just..... amazing. I promise he will still have good memories of being here!!!!
