It's so nice to see large crowds of ordinary people. They're not there to complain, make demands, or wreck things, they just want to celebrate peacefully. Reality is refreshing.
I went into DC, that line was LONG! I don't what all waiting in it got you but people were standing in it for 2+ hours.
I didn't watch the video above but that looks like The Mall side of Constitution, the line I saw was on the opposite side of people waiting to get over there I guess.
Also, there were a TON of flyovers! Although the best one I saw was stopping at the grocery store on the way home I caught a couple B2 stealth bombers flanking what looked like it could have been AF1/2 on either side flying over Fairfax about 7:30ish. Didn't really get a good look at the plane that was being escorted but was a large airliner.
I was drawing a blank last night posting and a search of stealth fighters brought it up. Correct, this morning I'm realizing it is and has been the stealth bomber.
It wasn't sounding right in my mind, I kept thinking B52 bomber lol
We stood in the line on the other side, started standing in the heat at 2pm. Luckily everyone around us was nice... however about 4;30 we got to an intersection and people were literally POURING into line ahead of us from a crosswalk!!!!! Everyone was pi$$ed. We gave 2 1/2 hours of our lives to stand in line, to have probably 100+ people jump in line.
FINALLY about 5ish, the police showed up with water. Everyone was so dehydrated! Pallets of water were passed down. A sweet older lady we were standing with the whole time said her pulse was at 165. I gave her some liquid IV and she finally got some water, and she got it down to like 147 last I heard.
Luckily we had those compact umbrellas with us, and the website said no full size umbrellas or umbrellas with sharp ends. By the time we walked through the maze, people were holding onto the metal barriers for balance, drenched in sweat. Old people, service dogs and babies suffered the most.
We got to the metal detectors, and were told the secret service changed the rules, didn't tell anyone (yes, they said this), and umbrellas weren't allowed. We stood in the heat for 4 1/2 hours, I was so happy we had the umbrellas and people around us did too. We would have had to tap out without them. The fact that they didn't allow them in 100 degree heat AND rain predicted was ridiculous. My DH shoved our umbrellas behind a barrier we will go back for later this morning.
We sat down, found a pretty good place, started making friends, and the police and Secret Service aggressively kicked us out. They flyover was still going on, people want to see the planes our tax money paid for, and they were YELLING at us. "When the police tell you to do something, YOU DO IT!!" We were watching the planes!!! There was no immediate danger. I have a feeling the weather people were libs and were finding joy in kicking us out.
They wouldn't let us use the portapotties on the way out, and I had to pee like a racehorse. So I had to stand in a long line in a museum for one of three stalls.
There was no rain for the hour after they kicked us out, honestly the lightning was worse during the fireworks than it was when they kicked us out. We ended up walking back to our hotel, which took an hour because of street closures. If they would have let us walk through some of these streets, it would have been a 5-10 minute walk. People in the museums and around the area looked drained and overheated, water was scarce, and we were just too pooped to stand in line to get in again.
When they finally re-opened, we decided to stay in our room and watch the fireworks. We have a great view of the Washington Monument, so we ordered room service and ate dinner at 10:30pm. It ended a pleasant evening for us, however I am disappointed we missed so much of the flyovers because we stood in a useless line all day!
This was our experience, we saw so many people get overtaken by the heat, a service dog someone carelessly was keeping on the hot pavement, burning his paws (they were indignant that people were upset... "But he has to stay with my son!" the police finally told her that if she puts that dog on the pavement again, they would cite her). People were incredibly friendly, and we made friends. I am overly disappointed we flew across the country just to be kicked out of the venue. We would have seen Trump and had a great view! I just don't have that endurance anymore to go stand in line again!
Damn, what a day! Thanks for sharing. "People were incredibly friendly, and we made friends. I am overly disappointed we flew across the country just to be kicked out of the venue." I would've felt the same.π

Scary how we even have to mention that communism is screwed in our country
But but but Reddit keeps saying DC is empty! They wouldnβt lie now would they?!?!?
There are dumbasses on linked in showing photos of days before claiming no oneβs was there today.
I was there in DC. There were definitely tens of thousands of people there.

Not to be pedantic but they are B2 bombers, the F117 Nighthawk was the stealth fighter which was retired.
Duly noted and edited.

May God Bless them One and All!

Is anybody else enjoying Alfonso Ribero hosting the show?
