What the fudge has happened to our schools, much less universities?
I was reading Dr. Seuss books when I was 4 years old, skipped kindergarten, and entered 1st grade at 5.
I once taught in a private school. The ONLY ones who struggled were kids with dyslexia, which I'd not been taught. Learning about dyslexia, I studied, quit, and became a Dyslexia Tutor.
BUT..... Ivy League? From what I've seen, heard, and read too many" graduates" from public high schools now struggle with reading, writing, and basic math as they enter college.
UNHEARD OF in my days of childhood AND teaching.
Is this just not another symptom of our "I don't give a shit about education culture? Just don't hurt their feelings?"

There are only 2 motivations in life 1) Running from something 2 ) Running toward something
From 1945 until ??? was America the largest & most privileged middle & working class ever ?
Not particularly surprising. The list of problems with modern education could fill a dozen significantly sized volumes just on its own.
Many of the problems however aren’t widely discussed, or are only indirectly or euphemistically alluded to. As accurately and truthfully directly describing the problems will make people in modern day rather uncomfortable. Given it does not and will not break down along politically convenient lines for either side.
The Ivy League is all about getting in. It’s not about learning anything. Pass / Fail grades, graduate and get a government job or a corporate connections job or an NGO job.
Our greatest ally ranked near the bottom in reading and math. So if we look forward 1 generation, perhaps that is a positive forward-looking indicator in the reduction of their ability to subvert us. One can hope.

University of Pennsylvania: Legacy students comprised roughly 22% to 25% of the student body in recent classes (2022–2025).
But , Like JD , there are many who struggle yet to escape the mire.

DEI easily made ivy leagers the most watered down intelligence of any group.

That’s exactly what university has become. Mass production of mindless, over confident bureaucrats.
It's not that they can't read. They're using ai to summarize the novels to get out of reading it.
Summaries and excerpts were all part of Common Core.. Last year, in California, spelling was eliminated in elementary schools.
Crazy. But explains a lot about the behaviour of “gangs of youths”.
