Just tried to search "California" here in GAW. No results? Then I tried searching "Q" and no results found!
I have to presume that search is currently non-functional?

Perhaps fix the native Search. Users shouldn't have to go elsewhere or download anything as a workaround for something that sorta worked and is now, apparently, totally broken.
should ....
You can try it yourself on the Command Line interface, and create a search. You'll find that, even though search is a basic feature, it is not that easy. This becomes an interesting discussion when looking at it from a system-wide perspective. Then all kinds of considerations go into the development questions.
Then, meanwhile, an to a site external solution might alleviate the needs of many.
As said, to enhance search capability, there are several solutions. Of course, you could use a search engine. But, the disadvantage here is that you do not control what is indexed and what is not, let alone when.
Yacy is a solution to those problems. But, the downside is, one would have to learn a new application, and comprehend how to set it up. Technically, the result-indexes are primarily local. But these can be shared p-2-p. So, as a group, we could set it up.
This puts forward an organizing principle, and voluntary participation, but also consistency in memberships: who is hosting what part.
Then there is another solution, which is an externally accessible index database with an advanced search algo.
And there you are.
Personally, I am very glad Cats5 created it, worked on our behalf and went to great lengths to make it in accordance with the spirit of liberty. And that, to me, is something praiseworthy.
