Been doing this since the beginning (in CA). Some stores hassle me. And when they do, I politely decline/dismiss, and continue shopping. The few that press it don’t get my money. Ans the restaurants that don’t say shit get huge tips.

I actually disagree. That encounter stirred you enough to write about it. I guarantee it impacted her even more. It was a question she simply hadn’t thought of, due to conditioning, and the fact that nothing hit close enough to home to shake her. Now, it is an option she’ll come around to questioning - enough to research it.
