She was an influential progressive thinker in the Clinton/Gore set. She was an astute social observer, for all of her daffy liberalism. Back then, the Democrat party's power base was working class people and still mostly white. Her insights helped progressives triangulate common cause with socially conservative proletarians. It is crazy to think that twenty years ago, Democrats and Republicans co-governed and the result was great national prosperity. The Democratic Party had a powerful pro-life contingent and the ACLU actually promoted civil liberty!

Hit 'em where it hurts -- in the wallet. The best way to demoralize law enforcement is Pension Reform -- put public employees on a defined contribution plan, as opposed to a defined benefit plan, and their ability to bleed the taxpayer dry is limited.
