I am not sure. Because he is taking some serious heat about removing the "block" feature right now from very prominent accounts.
However, I believe this to be an interesting move because I bet that "Block" feature is one of the mechanisms that is being heavily utilized in the code for shadow banning and censorship on larger scales.
I believe Elon is doing this, against popular opinion, to open up more channels of communication between differently opinioned people. Basically expanding the town square.
Andrew Torba, say what you want, I don't invest much in the guy, but did propose this idea with some interesting data on how blocking on Twitter enables echo chambers, thus removing the block, merge the echo chamber bubbles and bring/force people back together.
Just a theory, but I do believe it is plausible. Elon likes to make money. So I believe he knows not to piss off his entire customer base for that platform, unless he knew he was going to do something great, and that even though people will complain about the change at first, that in the long run, it will be for the best overall. At least this is hopefully what he is doing in my opinion.
