Thank you for the thought, friend. His extended family has means he can tap into before he has to take that step. The kids will not go hungry and will keep their roof. God's comfort and aid are what he needs that we can't provide.
Sure, and he's humble enough to do it if necessary. He also has family to help out. The kids will not go hungry.
But they've struggled with debt their whole marriage. He had almost crawled his way out of it and then along comes the prospect of having a baby (~$20K) without coverage, and a necessary back surgery (~$250K). This would ruin them financially. Would SSI provide those kinds of resources? I don't know enough about it, but somehow I doubt it.
He told me that as these things dawned on him, he experienced the first panic attack of his life. He's a very good man, with nerves of steel, and it broke my heart to hear that.
Thank you for the idea. I'll look deeper into it.
First snow of the season in Northern Colorado. I had a hard time finding a good vantage point to show the crowd, but it was bigger than I'd expected, especially given the weather, several thousand at least. The plot of land they're standing on is the size of a city block, we filled about 3/4 of it.
