I've heard in some parts of Asia, pre-Covid delirium, it was a common courtesy for a person with an illness to wear a mask if they go in public, to prevent them sneezing or coughing on others

Same thing happened to me at the door of a grocery store yesterday with a cop asking me if I wanted a mask. They said 'oh you got a medical thing? Come right in!'
