Trump went into the white house alone everyone around him was a traitor except Gen Flynn. He had to get many people placed by the news and democrats were on him 24/7 kept going and going so he decided to get a vice president he knew they would not complain about. That settled things down enough for him to get to business but I do not believe Pence was ever privy to important information.
I think Pence was always compromised however he got his no-shitter at the same time McCain did, if not earlier. I believe he made a deal...I believe he's been looking for a way out ever since...His way out going forward looks to be that of the role of Judas Goat...many in the Senate most likely don't become Traitors if they think the VP's not with them.
