Couldn't see it the video very well, but the man said the truckstop convoy was armed. Took part in several of these, no weapons were to be visible on US public roads.
Policy might've changed since then, or this convoy is taking care of some real business.
Yeah, tracked vehicles as well has large armored vehicles were always towed or transported to training locations in my experience. Maybe they weren’t going far? The truck stop is completely normal though. Routine fuel point.
Typically, no (from my experience with CONUS NG convoys). Our protocol was one vehicle transported our firearms with armed guards & everyone else rode unarmed. YMMV this was for drill weekends & stuff when we went to the range at a different base.
Like OP stated, military convoys happen all the time. I see it a lot in Cali.

I believe I saw at least 1 or 2 of the soldiers walking on the ground as part of the convoy openly carrying M4s.
Is that common / normal?
Armed?

Agree with this.
However, my husband has been on armed convoys when activated for hurricanse in New Orleans. (Rough area)
Hes also been in armed convoys going to ranges.
Should have worded it better. (Didnt expect a sticky. Heh.) Not standard perhaps, but not unheard of.
I'm sure something is going on. Just not the crazy speculative stuff.
I have an opinion on this. My father helped out with two hurricane deployments. They were issued guns (and magazines) But no ammo was distributed.
Nope. SHTF
