Not trying to have a big rush to "it's happening" but this is unusual. I am in WA state near the Bangor Undersea Warfare station and Whidby Island (west of the Puget Sound) weather is mild about 50 degrees, no wind or ice, just light rain. My power has been out for over 2 hours and when just checking the outage map, I see that in the last hour nearly the whole county is has gone out. Power outages are common here due to wind, trees going down and things like that but given the mild conditions and the heightened awareness, I just wanted to comment on it. Any other outages around the country right now?
Edit: Power back on after 4 hour outage.
YES.

Fair amount out of power in that entire region including Oregon.
Interesting.
I'm in Oregon, near Portland. It went out for a minute or so.
PenceFence,Great site, thank you for sharing - I had no idea.
I'm working tonight. The power has been flickering because of heavy rainfall and wind, but no outages that I can see.
I am told the power has been out at home for about the timeframe you have suggested, though. Usually they get it back on pretty quickly since we live right by the base.
Same here, we are on a line that serves a federal building and it usually comes back pretty quick. We had heavy rain earlier in the week but pretty mild rain today - I get local alerts on tree/road issues from EMS but have received none of those. I guess we will wait it out.
As a fellow Washingtonian, woul it be a bad thing to hope that when the power comes back on that Jay Inslee would be gone?
Haha, god wouldn't that be nice? Especially after he unveiled his new-and-improved Covid plan the other day that offered no real path to reopening anything.
Hopefully that chopper that rescued him from the protestors at his mansion took him for a ride across the ocean.
I know! Going to Costco or Walmart ok and ordering take out ok but no eating or drinking in a restaurant and God forbid you are caught outside without a mask. Dont even get me started - oops too late.
Power just came back at our place. How about you, friend?
Yes - was off about 4 hours here. Time to crash. I'll be looking for ya on here - keep the faith.
Fuck that. I haven’t worn a mask yet except for a doctor’s appointment.
Seems to be 500k out in Washington state.
Had someone saying this was confirmation on another forum, he said he heard 3 transformers blow one after the other. Says it's windy though but the cascade of them made him think something else.
Somehow don't think the ops would need to actually destroy infrastructure to take out the power in regions, but ?
Nah, transformers don't blow...unless it's a major and extremely rare fault with bad overcurrent coordination. Breakers trip and fuses blow. Power distribution electrician here. https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/hundreds-thousands-without-power-roads-blocked-by-trees-power-lines/MN6XMXZTGZDCZBY2OWBI5HVHF4/
Damn 3 exploded right after the other even crazier.
I've seen quite a few times two fuses blow one after the other. Or if a tree takes down all three lines then three fuses can blow. Sometimes electricians will replace a blown fuse with the wrong size which can cause multiple fuses to blow during the next fault. To cause a widespread outage I assume they'd just open a few main feeders using SCADA. Just a few clicks on a Windows screen and thousands will be out of power. If that was the case it would just go dark; no loud bangs.
Power down for my friends in Corvallis Oregon as well. I am fine in Eugene currently but it seems to be a big un
Thanks, someone provided this national power outage site, it IS a big one! https://poweroutage.us/
To all those wondering about this being a weather related event, it shouldn't be. Most of the wind and rain has been over on the east side of Washington state. Take a look at the outage map.
https://poweroutage.us/area/state/washington
Interestingly, the Governor's mansion lies right at the top of Thurston County, where over 56% of residents are without power.
That is an interesting breakdown - bet Jay Inslee is shaking in his slippers.
Alright, time to finally get some sleep and-
GAw: Hey #525 is happening now
Look at the weather, maybe not in your area, but in the vicinity. Who knows how far power is pumped to your area.
I hear portland had a power outage .
Exploding transponder thing.
Anyone confirm?
Not in Michigan.
Central WA. Power outages. Our PUD is great and they couldn’t figure out what problem was. Out for full day.
Just across the border from you here. No outage but very windy.
Hi neighbor. Do Canada and US have the same power sources? Never really thought about it before?
We buy a little power from you. Not much. Does affect it a bit.
That makes sense near the border, so potentially depending on the situation, citizens in both countries could be affected though not on a large scale. Good to know - thanks.
I will be watching too. Back on here - about 4 hours, Thanks for the heads up.
How are you not banned after your trolling? What the fuck mods?

Removed. Keep it together, man.
