You should always be prepared for emergencies, such as hurricanes, ice storms, tornadoes, government assholes, etc.
I started prepping decades ago. I've never run out of toilet paper. A super rich relative told me I should get a bidet, and then I wouldn't have to worry about TP.
Just google prepping. Read a few sites and watch a few videos. No need to go as far as that classic TV show, "Doomsday Preppers."
I cashed out one of my retirement investments and paid off my house. No solid reason except I think the market may slide while all this is sorting itself out and that's what I needed to feel secure.
You know I have been thinking about all the people who think that the SHTF scenarios... The thing that gets me is this can't be something that goes on for much longer than a few days, because it would be the direct cause of death for many innocent people that rely on either medical, electrical or services... I certainly wouldn't want that on my soul.
Buy toilet paper!! (Not really... Unless you need it)
Make sure you have water, food, and a way to defend yourself if necessary. Food for pets. I've been buying just a little bit extra every time I went to the store for a few months now. Do whatever you can... It's better to have a stockpile you need to work through than to not have what you need. Make sure you have any medicines that you need.
I'm a type 1 diabetic so I had to ask my doctor to prescribe a little bit extra so I could stockpile insulin.
Canned foods. Water in reusable containers. Water filter. Canned meats. Beans and rice. Can opener. Spices. Hot sauce. Flour. Camp stove. Fuel. Blankets or sleeping bags sufficient to stay warm without power. Medical supplies. Solar usb charger/spare power. USB chargable radio. Peanut butter and chocolate.
I listened to Lin Wood..extra candles, water, solar/hand crank radios, 2nd Amendment supplies, went shopping yesterday and bought extra groceries, (also bought 3M acid gas respirators & goggles for hubby and I.)
Lotsa popcorn
Butter and salt too
The 19th is National Popcorn Day.
There are no coincidences
That's why I keep reminding people all over the place.
I almost forgot it on my grocery order... Thanks for the reminder!
Sit back and ENJOY THE SHOW

A big necessity is self defense.
But bidets only work when there’s electricity...
My rich relative has whole-house diesel generator, plus a second one as backup. He's ready for almost anything.
I was wondering if we should move our retirement plans into cash for the time being with so much uncertainty...
Depends how much you trust the Federal Reserve.
Spoiler: Don't

“Shelter in the woods” - that’s a big red flag. Do not bug out if your current domicile is relatively stable.
