10h · Remember that time POTUS entertained us with that opera song at the WH?
It’s from the end of the movie "The Sum of All Fears”.
During that part special ops guys are taking out the cabal. Song is called “Nessum Dorma”, No One Sleeps” and “Vincero” means “I shall win”.

Just a little correction, Vincero' doesn't mean i shall win, but it means 'I WILL WIN' ;)
Thanks! I'll let the Outlaw know;)
Do shall and will mean different things?
I read that and I still don't get it. As soon as you start with the past present participle stuff my brain tunes out.
Same thing happened in my youth. Not a fan of grammar. Never did math equations the way they wanted either.
As a former medical transcriptionst, I can say that I hated the grammar police (EDITORS), BUT when a medical document is revealed in a court of law context, sentence structure and conveyed thought are supremely important. Proof reading is a skill beyond knowing medical terminology.
Personally, I think overly strict rules on grammar restrict communication, not help it. We need some rules so we all understand each other, yes. But language is a living thing. It moves, adapts, and changes.
The entire purpose of language is to communicate information. Sometimes breaking rules allows you to speak to people in a way they wouldn't normally understand. It allows you to say things between the lines.
I think demanding strict rules be applied, and all else disregarded restricts communication and creative writing. Did Shakespeare use the language of his time only, or did he create entirely new ways of saying things?
Lol, I was the same way in algebra. I had my own way of doing it but came up with the right answers.
Without going into all of that, “shall” depicts intention and “will” depicts action. But I guess that also ties in to the intricacies of the English language and how it is applied
Correct?
If I remember correctly Gandalf's famous line was "You shall not pass!" in the movie, but seems it was "You will not pass!" in the book version.
Yep, two different modal verbs, specially in this case, if you translate from Italian, as it's future you will get from a translator the same result, but, from a mother tongue, i show you the difference literally :
Good catch! Wonder if the choice of "Nessun Dorma" to close out the RNC was a wink to all the Q posts that talk about "Nobody is sleeping" or "Those who know cannot sleep". Never made that connection before.
There's a mistake in that translation as well, "Nessum Dorma" has no sense by itself, either is likely an order "Che nessuno dorma. / nessuno dorma oggi - No one should sleep / no one should sleep today (future) ", or, as statement "Nessuno dorme. - No one IS (currently) sleeping"
Yep, indeed, a masterpiece, Pavarotti was just AMAZING, his voice.....
I posted that at the time but everyone missed it! Thank you. Here’s the performance, start at 18:38.

Beautiful. Did you see Barron on the far right? Taller than Eric already.
Yes, he’s going to be an amazing leader someday.
Ty pede!
Lyrics of the aria translated to English:
Nobody shall sleep!... Nobody shall sleep! Even you, oh Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope. But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth, I will tell it when the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!... (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.) Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!
note in the aria vincero is sung three times
that night Christoper Macchio sang vincero four times
come back to the thread and see my comment below, compare what was sung that evening (link in comment) with a performance (linked in comment) by Pavorotti
Just to clarify, Christopher Macchio sang many songs that night but Nessun Dorma was the one he sang when Trump came out onto the stage
Dang. Nice connection!
His account's been suspended.
He's on Gab
got it
He is on gab
thx
Can we PLEASE STOP posting stuff without a link???
Q and Anons are supposed to be ALL ABOUT THE SAUCE: Without a LINK this is just YOUR OPINION.
For the love of God....come on guys!
People want a link so they get a twatter ink then they bitch out about the twatter link...or telegram...or fakebook.
Did you mean to post this on the other sticky? This one isn't really controversial.
A link isn't relevant for this post.
Saw this on the comments on the youtube clip of the Sum of all fears:

Or done properly:
I will win....I will winnn...I WILLLLLLLLLL WINNNNNNN!
IPOT1776 does a great deep dive into why this was done. I think the title of the video is Vincero.
I wonder if when POTUS leaves DC, if he will really go to FL. Could be, he might pull a switch er roo, and leave the country. (Q mentioned he would be on AF1 and abroad). Perhaps go to his Golf Club in Scotland, while AF1 goes on to FL and simply unloads boxes at Mara lar go? They wouldn't "know" where he was for awhile and he still has SS protection.
catsfive was on top of this on that night... posted a link to a pod cast, that, as i recall, was comparing the staging of the balcony where the singer was that night to the balcony scene near the end of the movie, Godfather III, main point was the subtlety of the lighting (the chandelier being turned up just as the singer begins), happens in both G III and how this was staged that night
as far as the comment i made that night (catfive's post of the podcast was made shortly after the event ended)..., shakes head... sighs
note that Nessun Dorma was played at many, many of the Trump rallies, particularly in the beginning, it became rarer near the end. the recording they played at the rallies is linked to in my comment (link below) to catfive's post from that evening. It is from the film, Yes, Giorgio, Pavorotti starring, and, of course. singing. that would be, Yes, George, for our non-Italian speakers
I kind of remember a magazine with a name something like that. What was it?
