2 ladies walked by me last night wearing their masks (yes, outside). One of them said out loud, "Wow, that food smells so good" as they passed a restaurant.
I quicky responded with, "If the mask doesn't stop those molecules, it aint stopping any virus, either". You would have thought I just ate her child with the look she gave me. I just smiled and kept walking. They're all brainwashed monkeys!
Mask shaming is quickly becoming my favorite activity.
It is! This lady at church has been harassing me about masks all week because I don’t wear one when seated next to my family and six feet from everyone else. ??♀️ Idiots. She even had a preacher on Facebook say that people who don’t wear masks are sinners. I must have missed that commandment.
Or, as I phrase it:
A mask is to the virus as a chain link fence is to a mosquito.
Invariably they object and say it's to catch sneezing/coughing particulate matter; then I say "it's acting as a face diaper and should be treated as hazardous material."
The sneeze / cough / shout argument has some merit. The mask isn't going to do shit to stop you breathing things in, but it can attenuate the distance of a projectile droplet. How much that matters is not clear.
Once droplets get the mask wet, the virus go all the way through, dries on the outside, flakes off, and it's been spread around. Wet masks should be changed out and bagged immediately.
You know how masks will make glasses fog up? Thats cus its redirecting you discharge (with the virus) up into your eye area where it can reenter the body, rather than out of your system (aka the point of the immune system's coughing mechanism)
Masks are dumb because asymptomatic spread isn't real, and the virus is probably airborne anyway. The claim, though, is that the virus isn't airborne and instead moves through the air in water droplets. Sufficiently small water droplets evaporate nearly instantly, so it's more complicated than bigger holes than a virus. Also, at the scale of a virus, particles are potentially affected considerably by forces from things like electrical fields. HEPA filters most certainly have holes larger than the particles that they effectively filter out, but are effective for that reason. A random piece of cloth probably doesn't work at all like a HEPA filter though, and instead probably just atomizes infected peoples' sneezes and maximizes the airborne spread of their germs.

I simply gave up putting one on except work and costco. Those the question me, I simply say medical and walk on.
