Q has told us Q1603:
Read the BIBLE. GOD WINS.
I think many patriots are getting caught up in the doom and gloom. Stop watching TV. It would be better to re-connect with God and see what He has to say in the Bible. He is in complete control of everything. Trust in the Lord. He hears our prayers.
I would like to read a bible, but there is thousands of alternative versions.
What is the most accurate one?
To me it seems like "too late" to get some originality after all these years of word-twisting in all the different bible versions.
A very easy to understand version is the NIV. King James is favored in many places, but the Language can get in the way, being archaic. It is lovely though. Have a contemporary one and King Hames and compare.
Leading linguists of the 1500's maybe. I would recommend the New Living Translation for the most accurate meaning being translated.
Actually, the first Bible printed using a printing press was the Tyndale Bible, then the Coverdale Bible, and then the Douai-Rheims. All of these came long before the KJV.
No, Gutenberg made his press in 1436. All the bibles I mentioned are from the mid 16th century.
I don't know what you mean by pre-electricity sources for it. There are physical copies of these bibles from the 16th century.
No need to get aggressive.
Most accurate would be the original Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek, especially since those languages have subtlety and nuance that is lost when translated to English. With that understanding, New International Version (NIV) is written in plain language and is ideal for modern readers, IMO. Some bibles have notes that explain cultural references and context.
As the phrase goes, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Reading any version of the Bible is more important than avoiding it. Ask that the Holy Spirit will reveal truth to you.
