Christ, we know that government is your servant for our good and that You are the King of kings. We pray that you would use us, your people, to bring your servant into subjection and restore it as an avenger who carries out your wrath on the wrongdoer. We desire to be in subjection under your right authority, God, not only to avoid your wrath but also for the sake of our own conscience. For this very reason, we pay our taxes taxes, we recognize that authorities ought to be your minsters. We long to pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
Holy Spirit, You know that a minister who does evil is not your servant, that one who rewards evil is not your minister, and one that abuses authority to injure it's own people is not an authority to be obeyed. We should no more obey a thief, or a robber, or a murderer simply because they command force. Force does not make them deserving of our godly obedience.
Father, strengthen our hands for the days ahead. Give us wisdom. Teach us your ways. Draw us into further dependence open you. Bless us, God, that we may be a blessing to others through dark days. Conform us into the image of your Son, Jesus Christ, that His kingdom would be established on earth as it is in Heaven. May Christ deliver the United States of America, destroying every rule and every authority and power that is not in subjection to you. For He must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
