It seems like there were obvious disagreements with regard to how the defense was going to be argued. Supposedly Trump wanted to press on with with the proof positive that there was election fraud; defense team who resigned refused.
Who knows what exactly happened within that timeframe. It may be that there weren't many who wanted to take the case as Trump wanted it argued. We will have to see.
