And she was making the point that Alaska is the only state that borders two different countries. So as a governor, she'd have more foreign policy experience than the next guy.
IMHO calling the Bering Strait a border is a bit of a stretch, when we do that with no other bodies of water. No one ever speaks of Florida "bordering" Cuba, or South Carolina "bordering" Bermuda.
Taken to its logical extreme, Hawaii borders Australia and Japan, among many other countries. :)
Shipping from major world ports is far more effective than this digging a 50+ mile tunnel under the Bering sea so you can truck/train stuff 8000 miles across the Arctic.
This is just more of the conspiracy-crazies-think-everything’s-a-conspiracy crap, and using GAw as a too-receptive dumping ground.
2.2 miles? Not really friend. I’ve been up there and it’s much farther than that

2.4 miles between the closest island https://www.geographyrealm.com/separated-by-2-4-miles-and-21-hours/
If you consider big diomede island and little diomede island they are that close.
Fair point. Continental landmass to continental landmass is about 50 miles though.
Yes you are correct.
And thousands of miles of land.
It is 50 miles with a pair of islands (Bigh & Little Diomede) in the middle of the strait.
Who would be downvoting this?
The Bering Strait is over 50 miles wide.

If a 50 mile bridge or tunnel is all that separates our market from the nearly 4 billion man China/India market, then yes, it might be worth it
