Do you fish? Im curious about what all native FL's can accomplish down there in the sand. I would say root vegetables are near impossible to grow. Do you guys rely on a ton of citrus/fruit and bean production? Aren't nuts a major commodity down there as well?

I know down around Ocala, there are tons of horse farms, but Im not quiet sure about your cattle production abilities, or any livestock for that matter. Possibly Goats, high sodium/mineral requirement animals like deer. Oh, we can't forget about reptile like gator, I am sure thats enough to keep a family fed for a few weeks!

Id say in your humidity and heat range, properly stored grains, and dehydrated meats are your best option if you can't get to a proper fishing hole. I really love the florida bogs and swamps. Its teeming with life but extremely difficult to thrive. It is a constant fight for survival.

Water filtration should be your GREATEST concern. an ICF house/shelter is a high second on that list. Tree Mulch should be 3rd... You can create a very very good ecosystem for plant life by adding tree mulch (non dyed) when it breaks down it becomes compost which floods your ground with nitrogen, essential for plant growth. You can create a "compost pile" that can be turned or you can lay the mulch directly on the ground and it will break down and absord, just do it in thin layers, every single year. We add all of our vegetable food scraps to our compost bin. you can even have passive heat with it, but thats an enitrely different discussion.

You guys have a lot of rough necks down there. The wildest shit comes out of florida, you may have to deal with some crazy ass people...
