The scenario could be so outrageous and heinous that we can't begin to wrap our heads around it because it is so beyond what any normal person could imagine, let alone do. As a result, we try to ascribe such acts to something outside our sphere of knowledge, such as aliens.

Assuming that there are benevolent, and malevolent alien/supernatural life forms- What if evil humans tricked the aliens into thinking that the fucked up elements within the leadership positions of our society is normal, and the will of the majority human race? What if their purpose is to keep us imprisoned on this one tiny little planet to exploit us for their satisfaction?
In other words, what if evil humans have been working with evil aliens for thousands of years, and the malevolent forces have succeeded in hiding what the majority of humans truly wants for our race (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, prosperity for all) from the benevolent aliens in order to prevent an extraterrestrial intervention?

They could monitor our communications. What would they see/hear? OP, clearly you haven’t looked very hard at the subjects you speak of. Now, I want to first say, IMO unequivocally Extraterrestrials exist and have been engaging with humanity for a very long time. That being said the idea that technology has never at any point trickled down to human hands leaves your entire argument in shambles. Have you never seen massive tunnel boring machines? As far as human trafficking just look at the endless busts of human trafficking going on in the last couple years. Look into MILABS. It’s very easy to pick apart a rigid, black and white argument.
