I've been following your replies in this post. Thanks for the info you are helping many of us with. I am new (about 12 mo) to the use of supplements. I was told after a bone density test to up my calcium and D3. I have tried to "equate" the dosage of "IU" with "mg". but not sure how to do that. I have currently 2,000 IU of D3, but unsure how to "increase" it to what the Dr. wants. Can you help explain? Thanks!
google will convert IU (international units) to mg for you
the bare minimum for adults should be 5000 IU of D2 (with the 120mcg of K2) per day. 30 minutes in the sun is equal to 10000 iu to equate the dose. you are basically forcing 15 minutes of sunshine a day.
1/ Ideal is "180 nmol" or "72 ng/mL", these are the same measurement. This is a high mark to achieve. We suggest paying $35 every 6 months and doing the blood test to check your levels.
2/ There are almost zero risks. You could take 50k IU today. You can take your entire D dose for the week in one sitting, there is no reason to. I would say its more important to start doing in consistently than worry about a loading period.
3/ You can choose what to do with the multi. They have ant size doses and barely do anything. Any extra of D and Zinc will do no harm.
1000mg C, 5000IU D
K2 is part of D complex and ensures the D calcifies correctly. Its integral and part of some D supplements.
400mg of any mag, biglycinate is the best.
Brazil nuts are the best food source of Selenium, an essential nutrient depleted from our soils. Eat one brazil nut a day.
No problem, bring all the Qs you like. Be healthy. Feel like a beast.
