I found nothing to debunk it. Searched on DDG and Startpage. The closest anything got to proof against the article shared here was Redditors calling it false simply because no mainstream media outlet would publish the story. That actually reads to me as reason to dig in and find out the truth. I appreciated you sharing it.

Haven't even looked at it. Could be legit, but what I can tell you is that when one 'news source' publishes something, others follow along like sheep and often don't even bother to verify.

Note to the OP, low quality satire sites often include many real articles along side the fake ones so people say "well the site had some real stories in it!" Add that fact in with confirmation bias and it's almost impossible to not believe and share unless you look for little clues like this to make it funny.
