Of all the "watch the water" theories out there, I have a different feeling about this one. Diverting the Potomac to flood the tunnels throughout Washington DC is somehow easy to believe and absolutely necessary. I hope this is real because its absolutely genius to me.
Witness2Reality and scyenceFiction have good points but the DC automated hydrant flushers are in neighborhoods not near this location. Still could be a manual flush but fingers crossed for flooding the tunnels!
Have we ruled out the simple answer first? Hydrant flushing would be a pretty reasonable explanation of what I'm looking at here. [EtA: Add in that there's no Hydrant in sight for either pic and it fits with one being flushed and someone framing their pics deliberately.]
Yes but if the Potomac is high why would you flush the hydrants. Even if it wasn’t wouldn’t spring be a bad time to do that since DC is literally sitting in a swamp?
That could very well be a valid point. I'm not aware of standard procedure in an area where the watershed is effected by a large river/body of water (or primarily correlated as in this case). Not seeing a hydrant in either shot got me really skeptical, as that was my go-to self-debunk.
I don't live in DC. It has rained where I live, but the pollen isn't done yet, so the car is yellow again. Hopefully, it will rain again tonight, so I don't have to wash the car.
If you separate water from petroleum products you sometimes need to know if it's salt or fresh and a quick and dirty test is just to dip your finger in it and put a tiny bit on your tongue. That would be ASTM method no no

I like it. Use the swamp to destroy the swamp.

You win the grounded logic award. And an updoot.
Automated hydrant flushers. https://www.dcwater.com/projects/automated-hydrant-flushing-devices
My thought, this is what an open hydrant or broken main would let out.
But the cops didn't know where it was coming from.

When the sewers are backed up. When are the sewers backed up?
I visualize Pennywise the clown saying, “We all float down here.”
It's cloudy. Perhaps it rained. I've seen it rain like a son-of-a-gun in DC, real gully-washers.
Maybe this "citizen journalist" can look into all the yellow powder all over my car.
So far, I have itchy eyes, and I'm sneezing a lot. :)
If it rained, there should be no yellow powder on your car.

Thank you fren. Makes sense.
It's raining now. :)
Looks more like a broken water main...
Does it taste salty?

Probably not.
Tsunami created by blowing up the underground DUMBs? LOL
no its the thing about diverting the Potomac into the tunnels and flooding them.
Tunnel Snakes Rule!
Swamp is getting swampy
It’s a swamp so...
