Had booze loaded into my grocery cart. It was a lot. Just moved and had run-down stock. Close to $400 worth. Got masked shamed by a checker. Unloaded the booze.
I had just been thinking about the 3x tax on stuff I was buying to sponsor a state that is limiting my freedom. Sales, ATF, and Sin tax.
I am done with the big tax items. I will buy as little as I can from here on out. I know being sober will help health, but also the pocketbook.
Indeed. Starve the beast. Purchase as much as you can from farmer's markets (when they open again), yard sales, etc.
I go down to Texas to buy groceries - no sales tax at all.
Well done!
Wait, you unloaded $400 worth of booze from your cart because you got mask shamed? Bravo!
Told a checker I am friends with about it also. I am a white male. I consider this taxation without representation.
Masks, can't go out, no vote, and support illegals.
Being white I can't go; loot, riot, march. Time to fortify my wallet!
If you've got it to spend, spend it on the 3Bs...hint: booze ain't one of 'em.
Brew your own beer. Most of the ingredients are not taxed, or they're taxed at a lower rate. 1-time equipment costs are $100-200 depending on what quality gear you get. Then each 5-gallon batch costs about $50 in raw ingredients. 5-gallons is enough for 48 12oz bottles.
Time commitment is just a few hours of brewing on brew day. Wait a few weeks, and then a few hours bottling or kegging. Then wait a few weeks. Refrigerate, drink, and enjoy!
BeerMan is wise in the way of beer.
Even though we are an autonomous collective, I would vote for BeerMan as King.
Give us this day our daily (liquid) bread.
If I could brew my own Banana bread beer I would definitely do this.
Put in the parts. Wheat, sugar, banana, yeast. I don't see why this couldn't be made?
Good for you. Well done.
Home distillation. For science reasons. Also can make a fantastic paint thinner!
That's a thought. Maybe less toxic. Save me on N95 masks
...and hand sanitizer. :-P
In the name, nough said.
Good idea and well-played.
