A friend told me he is going away for 6 weeks. Hasn't had a long term event like this in 5+ years. Apparently headed to FBI Hazardous Devices School. He told me he was an MA when active so struck me as strange he'd be going to this "training".

Thanks for the heads up
Activated? One dude does not the entire Naval Reserve make.
Ur guy is going for training. Nothing more.
No, it's not odd. We (EOD) regularly trained reservist MA's on how to recognize the various IEDs in existence and how to properly notify us if they found one.
Great. Thank you for explaining a bit more. As a service member, can you tell me if it's odd for a reservist to not leave their hometown for 5+ years and then out of the blue finds out about a 5-week training in another state?
MA is Master at Arms. The Navy's version of the MP military police.
Also, training and overseas orders during AT's ( active duty for training) are extended to the length of a school or 27 days minimum for an overseas assignment.
I wonder if the FBI teaches how to recruit patsies in that training or if it's a separate course.
What is an "MA"?
The hazardous devices intrigue me. I saw 4 pickup trucks pulling box trailers traveling through central Illinois over the weekend. Trailers proclaimed Army hazmat recon.
Sure.
I can screenshot his text message to me, but that still wouldn't be proof. I'm not claiming this is true. I'm just claiming true that someone I trust, told me he is leaving for 5-6 weeks.
Don't do that screenshot. Your comment is sufficient for others to look into it. The screenshot could compromise him. Ignore the mockers...they are less than nothing. One is shriveled foreskin.
He. um, texted you this!?!
If anywhere, dude needs to go to remedial OpSec school then.
I have to believe that anyone whose role is going to matter here isn’t going to be inclined to texting his buddies with his upcoming planz.
Opsec. Good point. Especially when said friend comes on here and publishes.
yeah weird. I would think he would have EOD background if going to that training.
Yea. Weird, right?
It's likely a device recognition course
