MAD might have been a deterrent during the Cold War (though I think fear and greed can always trump logical self-preservation), but it no longer plays a role in geopolitics.
Modern weapons are capable of completely preventing an opponent from launching an effective counter-attack. A Pearl Harbor-style surprise attack is once again a viable military strategy.
Instead of conventional bombs, the modern Pearl Harbor would incorporate cyber-attacks, EMPs, DEWs, nukes, bio-weapons...along with tech we don't even know exists.
Bullshit. Complete Bullshit.
MAD is based on nuclear weapons. All the other weapons you mention will escalate to nuclear weapons being used, which is where MAD acts as the deterrent.
More bullshit. Explain how sub-launched nuclear missile counter attacks can be prevented.
NOT ALL WOULD BE SOME THEORETICALLY COULD BE IF THE ENEMY HAS GOOD HUNTING ABILITY WITH TNEIR FAST ATTACKS. Sorry about upper case. Got this far didn't want to retype.
Yeah, definitely sounds like you're speaking from a 1980's perspective.
