They told me to wear my mask or go home. I told them to make it formal and terminate me. They sent me home and said HR will contact me. Before I was out of the parking lot the GM called and said HR will allow a medical exemption. I can't go back. They will nit pick until they can make a case for termination or push me until I leave. Working something less stressful out now.

Care to layout the upside of being fired? I may be about to enter a similar situation at my office.
Unemployment benefits, possible wrongful termination suit
Usually severance (which is usually offered with the agreement not to sue). There is also a medical cobra requirement i think and potentially some local jurisdiction rules (e.g. I think California has a bunch of employee protection laws).
Make sure your state doesn't do At-Will Employment. They can fire you for no reason (unless you can prove it violates discrimination laws)
At-will employment is not absolute, and it certainly doesn't allow constitutional violations. E.g. - suppose an employer in a at-will state fired someone for being black...
That's why I said what I did about discrimination....
Medical perhaps?
Isn't ADA included in discrimination ist?
ADA dont cover masks, at least to the two layers I talked to
Even still, many employers will still offer severance to avoid the hassle or reputational harm of a lawsuit. It's far easier to pay severance. However, the ideal scenario (for the employer) is for the employee to just quit outright.
Have someone who is an employment lawyer for the employee side review the package before you agree to anything.
