From a technical standpoint, what you suggest is certainly possible. However, this is audit conducted by a private contractor, not an official law enforcement investigation. The auditor has much more limited authority than law enforcement and must follow strict procedures and document everything done so that any evidence gained can be used in subsequent legal proceedings. It may take longer to go through the courts and enforce subpoenas but they will get there. The wrongdoers would clearly love to goad them into doing something rash, but it appears they are prepared for such provocation.
This seemed pretty certain when they refused to turn over the records of an allegedly fair and transparent election multiple times. The only question that remains is exactly how bad was it. We may very well be shocked at the scale and scope.
Just so you know folks.... you can't tell if a database has been deleted... unless you already are in the machines... no passwords are needed... they are just demonstrating to the world that they will not give them to the auditors ;)
Also... I would bet they have already recovered the databases.

The database passwords are pointless. Any good MSSQL DBA could open the restored database in about 3 minutes.

The problem is THAY until a judge or the courts actually make them pay for their action they will justncontinue to withhold and lie

"THEY" have ways to retrieve it.
Nothing is ever truly deleted. They need to brush up their IT skills.
