My 70 year old mother is currently very sick. She got a urinary tract infection a few days ago (which is fairly common for her), but this one seems to have more staying power than usual. In addition, she is having a bad bout of high blood pressure and hasn't been able to fall asleep for more than 2 hours a day for the past 4 days, as well as nausea and fatigue. She also has a bad flare-up of Candida Albicans (which she has struggled with for decades). She can currently barely eat (all she can tolerate is boiled eggs). She can't talk loudly, and can't move much.
Worse yet, the "medicines" the doctor gave her made her worse (it turns out that they have side effects that can affect the nervous system, and she already doesn't have a good nervous system). She didn't figure this out until she had already taken them. It's a perfect storm of multiple problems at once. I've never seen her like this before.
She went to the hospital, but they wouldn't keep her because they said they don't keep anyone who can walk (even though she was having to grip objects to walk and was shaking).
She said that in her current weakened state, her body can't even process additives in natural supplements (such as fillers in herb capsules), so she can only take supplements that are pure without fillers, additives, etc.
She compiled a list of supplements to order for her, but her handwriting is so bad that I can't make most of them out (I was able to decipher curcumin, oregano oil, and hawthorn berry), and she can't talk well enough to help me figure out the rest.
Does anyone have any advice? And can you please pray for her to heal?
Prayers up!
D-mannose will cure her UTI. And I just want to make sure that you do know that urintary tract infections in the elderly can mimic dementia symptoms, so if she starts to act unlike herself or if you think she's slipping into dementia etc, it is most likely the UTI. I know that sounds odd, but it is absolutely true. It happened to a loved one. We had no idea. Of course the idiotic doctors put him on bad meds. We got him off of whatever the hell they put him on and had him start taking the D-mannose, which cured him. It's not overnight, but it works. Also, once the UTI is cleared up, she should be put on a maintenance dose.
Buy the powdered form and have her drink it. (instead of the pills.) Once you buy some, there should be dosage instructions. I wish you the best of luck. I'm sorry she's going through this and I will pray for you both.

Best advice here. D-Mannose is a miracle. Use it to treat an acute infection. For uti prevention, horsetail is great (3 weeks on, 1 week off). Horsetail is also good for many other things. May God bless your mother with the gift of healing.
I’m unfamiliar with these properties. Is D-Mannose a natural element in horsetail, by chance?
No, without doing any refresher research, I believe D-Mannose is a sugar that somehow keeps bacteria from being able to adhere to the wall of the bladder or urethra. Maybe why cranberry works ?? The ingredient in horsetail that prevents uti's is silica. Silica is great for many things and you can also get it in Volvic water (from France) and Fiji water.
Thanks for talking the time to reply! Cheers fren.
I’ve been fighting a losing battle with horsetail in my yard, Praise the Lord I never won! And never went chemical. On to foraging!
Agreed.
OP, they didn't give your mom cipro, did they? She needs to detox from whatever meds they did give her. (If it was cipro, look up ciprofloxacin toxicity treatment) Definitely get the raw apple cider vinegar. It sounds counter-intuitive, but it is a huge help to the stomach and liver. Put 3 capfuls in 6-8 oz water 3-4 x day. She'll need to rinse off her teeth after drinking. Prayers for your mom
No. The three medicines she says are now more or less killing her are Visoril, Lorazepam, and Clonidine. I think some of them are for anxiety (which she suffers with). She says that these are what are causing her the most severe problems she has now. I thought she was talking about medicines they gave her for the UTI, but after talking to her again and looking them up, it's the medicines she's been taking for her anxiety and blood pressure. I think she did say something about them either giving or wanting to give her antibiotics for the UTI, though.
She said that what she needs most is the ability to sleep (her mind won't "turn off", so she always stays awake), and something for the nausea.
That sounds exactly like what has been happening to my mother. It does seem like the blood pressure and anxiety medications are among the causes of her problem.
Last night, she went to the hospital again, and the doctor told her that going off of the Clonidine (and maybe the Lorezapam as well, I don't remember for certain) cold turkey was making things worse, and she needs to gradually reduce dosage to ween herself off rather than quitting all at once. He also gave her something for the nausea. She seems to be doing somewhat better now.
Try GABA
Melatonin for sleep. It helped my mom too.
She tried melatonin (which has helped her I the past), but it didn't help this time.
Have her stop everything for 72 hours except water.
This, then regular intermittent fasting, w/ keto diet
So essentially she's being poisoned by the pharmaceuticals while the root cause of her anxiety & high blood pressure remains untreated (since those meds do nothing to resolve the cause).
If it were my mother, I'd treat it as a liver/gut issue. What they say about a 2nd brain in the gut is absolutely true. It's where most neurotransmitters are produced.
Get off those meds as quickly as possible but as cautiously as necessary. Immediately start the raw apple cider vinegar because it helps the liver so much. If she can't stand the thought of that, look up chanca piedra (whole world botanicals is an excellent brand) and order right away. Also look up time release probiotic with at least 10 strains, as well as adaptogenic herb blend. GABA and trace minerals work best for sleep.
Can she drink broth right now? She could live off a good homemade broth for awhile if she can't stomach anything else.
Obviously just my opinion but my education is in nutrition and I've a lifetime of experience with anxiety and resulting physical problems.
Tell your mom lots if people are praying for her
She wound up having to go to the hospital last night. The doctor this time was better than the ones before, and told her that going off of the Clonidine cold turkey like she did was making matters worse, and that she needs to ween herself off, starting with a half dose. They also have her something for nausea and put her on a drip that fixed her dehydration. They still didn't keep her (she didn't meet their criteria to be admitted) and sent her home, but she is feeling somewhat better now. She's not as weak or shaky, and finally got some sleep.
She probably can now. Her appetite seems a little better now.
D-mannose is amazing! When I feel a UTI coming on, just a couple of doses will stop it in it tracks! I have suffered with UTIs for years, and it is truly the only thing that helps.
Yes it’s true about uti and dementia characteristics in elderly
Thank you. That should be very useful for that particular issue (although she has several other pressing ones at the moment, as I mentioned).
Just going to share what my mother-in-law experienced. She was getting urinary tract infections all the time and I was getting concerned about how many courses of antibiotics she was going through. Most doctors treat symptoms and don’t even try to find a cause. So I advised her to insist on a more comprehensive examination. It turned out that she had kidney stones that were creating the bacteria. So after getting treatment for that she has finally been free of infections for a year or more. Before this discovery we were told that urinary tract infections can be quite debilitating to elderly patients. She would get to where just couldn’t even get out of bed at all. So I certainly would check about the possibility of kidney stones.
I think they checked her out for kidney stones Friday, but didn't find any.
Try Great Plains liquid bentonite.
If you have nausea, this settles it.
It also helps bind whatever is causing it.
This should be staple in everyone's kitchen.
I have found that when my stomach was too upset to eat that chlorella tablets helped. Don't know why, but they worked.
Those are my two suggestions: bentonite to deal with the nausea, then after it settles, chlorella.
Does she take Epsom salt baths. Epsom alt is magnesium sulfate. Magnesium can be absorbed in through the skin and it relaxes things. Like muscles or NERVES. It can relax the muscle around a nerve makings the nerve function better as well as also being good for the nerve. You can't really drink it to much cause it would relax the bowels, but to take a warm bath with it can be helpful. It takes a half hour to start to absorb though, so it should be a 45 minute bath or so.
Does she work on her PH? Does she eat a lot of sugar? If her PH is really off her digestions would go down the shitter which could make it harder to digest food or absorb minerals. Organic applice cider vinegar if she could tolerate it, its nasty as hell and if she could only eat eggs I would guess not.
Probiotics will help her gut and you have 2 options, you can either buy her some or have her eat a variety of organic fruits and or vegetables. Get a variety, cause they all have there own organisms that will breed and make way more of them. The human body should have way over a trillion, but a pilled probiotic will over have 50 billion tops, so mix the pill with the organic fruits and nature should run it's coarse assuming the PH isn't too far off.
When it comes to not feeling well you should always start with the gut (PH and enzymes) and Zinc, Zinc helps all other minerals absorb just like PH. If your PH was off by 1 it would be a 50% reductions of minerals. Hope it helps and I will pray for her, good luck and God bless my fellow patriot. Oh and blueberries and lemon are great for PH as well, cause apple cidrer vinegar probably won't happen, can be gotten in pill form. Has to be organic and has to contain the mother or its useless.
She's too weak to take any kind of bath right now.
She doesn't eat much sugar because of her Candida.
Right now, she's so nauseous that she can barely keep anything down, so most food treatments are off the table for now.
Can she eat crackers. Or the broth of chicken noodle soup. Home made broth is loaded with nutrition, store bot would at least provide some and it would give her liquids.
She didn't even finish the 3 boiled eggs I made her today. She can barely keep anything down.
Nausea and anxiety are the primary uses for lorazapam. Makes my wife sleep like a baby.
Unfortunately, some drugs can also cause the thing they're intended to help. It helped my mother...until it didn't.
This drug almost killed my husband, benzos are not safe, cbd would be safer
Gallstones? Get an ultra sound...
I'm not sure, so you'd need to check it out. But Biocidin might help with the candida.
It really is amazing how much starts with the gut. If it doesn't work nothing does.
It’s where (just about) everything enters the body.
I will pray for your Mum. I will give some advice but I am afraid there are lots of different views on what a healthy food is. I don’t think eggs would be helping at all. I would try stewed apple or cooked pumpkin, parsnip and turnip. Pharmaceuticals always have unwanted side effects and actually do very little to help ( in my humble opinion ) and I hope new technologies like med beds will be released soon to help all those suffering. I hope your Mum is on the road to recovery very soon. ???
Have her eat Greek yogurt - plain - no sugar Or give her some apple cider vinegar in water - To alkalinize the body - Or baking soda in water - but you have research first - Her body is too acidic ?
Prayers ??????????
She says she can't keep that down.
Prayers for you and your mum. Fulvic acid comes to mind as she can't hold stuff down. Oregano oil is soothing. Vit D and C. Fruit, juice and soft foods.
Thanks for the tip
Macrobid is an antibiotic specifically for UTI. Very low side effects. Doesn’t mess up your gut like some of the more harsh antibiotics.
Lorazepam builds on itself, due to the long half life, so a few weeks of that every day and she may be feeling out of it.
You might also read up on nebulizing with food grade hydrogen peroxide to treat the candida.
Will be praying!
That could be part of what happened. She has been taking it for a while due to her anxiety and high blood pressure. She can't handle stress well.
Benzos grab the GABA receptor & block it, try real GABA instead
Check your church for intersessionary prayer groups or vigil, this really works, there are pure, holy people wishing to help in this way...
Prayers for sure! Are you in a medical THC state? Can do wonders for appetite. My wife is chair-bound and has UTIs often. I always supplement her antibiotic with AZO to help with discomfort.
I'm in Mississippi, which recently legalized medical marijuana, but I don't think they have an actual distribution program yet.
Check your local healthfood store, they make have hemp derived cbd oil
Try CDS (chlorine dioxide solution) for detoxification. Then melatonin for sleep.
PS And don't use the prediscribed drugs.
She tried melatonin (which has helped her I the past), but it didn't help this time.
I'll have to look into CDS.
Thank you for the information.
All I can advise is that you get her out of bed and standing/walking at least a few minutes a few times a day. Or do some sort of leg strength exercises if completely bedridden. My dad was bed-bound for just 3 weeks and lost his ability to walk. Another elderly relative entered the hospital a couple weeks ago and has already lost her ability to walk due to being bedridden.
Cranberry for the UTI, epsom salt bath, or bentonite clay bath, needs a detox, suggest you find good naturopath, baking soda 1tsp in warm water each morning for alkalize, get liver detox, you need to get good help for candida detox, candida causes uti, also joints problem, brain fog, etc... remove mercury fillings from teeth..etc
Whenever our kids couldn't keep anything down, we had them sip the light syrup from canned peaches -worked every time. Was recommended by an old family Doc., the kind you can't find any more.
She can't have sugar right now, due to Candida.
Sorry, should have thought of that. I (being diabetic myself) get thrush (candida) now and again and the lozenges prescribed don't work. For me, that plain, cheap, Great Value yogurt from WM works the best. I think it tastes like buttermilk to me and even just swishing it around the mouth does wonders.
Praying for your mother!!
Dr Hulda Clark
Cure for All Disease - book
Buy a cheap Zapper - run it for an hour at a time, one time a day.
Check out Dr. Clark’s parasite, and Candida cleanse. candida is a tough one but a good Candida cleanse will help clear that up and she shouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.
What do you mean by "Zapper"?
This is just one example. https://www.ebay.com/itm/402592805755?hash=item5dbc66b37b:g:7EQAAOSwff1fzLJY
It goes with the Hulda Clark - cure for all diseases book.
Make sure you get rest straps to go with it. It’s much easier to use and you can read or be on your phone while using it.
They have smaller versions too, you just have to do the research on eBay or on the Dr. Clark website.
What is that supposed to do? Is it some sort of electro-shock therapy?
No it’s a frequency generator. It kills pathogens in your body, like I said get the book and read it and then you’ll know.
There are Rife apps can load on phone
I would suggest researching the health benefits of colloidal silver. It is safe for internal and external use and phenomenal for building a strong immune system. My child had a stye and with 20 minutes of colloidal silver ( I like SilverBiotics Brand) it was gone. Same with ear infection...gone faster than quick.
It doesn't really have a taste, so it is easy to drink in water. Check to see if it could help with the UTI per research.
Definitely start with some form of pot to help combat nausea and increase appetite. It will also help her relax and get some sleep. No matter what else you do, it's an uphill battle if the engine (body) is depleted & weak.
Praying for her OP

Says they wont admit, difficult to trust those hospitals nowadays
Same outcome..
