That wasn’t the msm story. That’s the story that was being screamed all over by the actual vape users. The poster above was correct. It was vitamin E oil which is not something that can be vaped as it builds up on your lungs. The msm story was that it was the regular vape juice casing the deaths. When it was finally proven to actually be the black market thc oil the story was just dropped. It’s the event that started me digging into all of this, actually. I’m a heavy vape user myself and I am pretty skilled at making my own juice so I knew damn well that it was a web of lies.
Wrong, it was a pair of brothers in wisconsin who got busted running a massive THC cart empire who were using vitamin E oil as a liquidizer in their carts.
The company who made the liquidizer was marketing it as healthier because it contained vitamins not understanding that it would cause lipid pneumonia.
i don't remember the name of the company but you can find it all on the old reddit thread that talked about it. the company freaked out, pulled all their ads, and ghosted itself from the internet as fast as they could.
it was a US company who made it, they were just filling small dropper bottles with different "vitamin enhanced" liquidizers and the vitamin E oil was the one that caused all the problems.
I mean if you want to conclude that because the vitamin E oil came from a foreign company then you could, most of the vitamin and supplement ingredients come from non-domestic sources... but they weren't the ones selling it as a vitamin liquidizer for carts.
Probably right, I wouldn’t rule this was coordinated, it happened right before covid, and gave them reasons to make all sorts of crazy anti vaping/pro tobacco laws.
Wisconsin is in the middle of the country and makes it a good hub for distribution to both coasts.
The two brothers who were making carts had people coming to them from all over the country buying rubbermaid totes full of finished carts. they had a bunch of people working for them constructing the fake packaging, filling the carts, loading the packaging and finishing them off for sale.
I used to make carts, i know exactly how they were doing it.
You go onto a site like dhgate and order trays of empty carts, and you order the flat packed packaging for the finished product.
the flat packed packaging shows up with all the printed boxes or foil pouches and stickers you need to make the finished product appear to be a safe and legal product that comes from a tested recreational sales operation.
they are counterfeit knockoffs
the most popular ones were mario carts, dank vapes, cereals, king pens, brass nuckles, cookies...
you could order them by the case... 100, 1,000, 10,000, the more you buy the cheaper they got per unit.
i liked the king pens, they looked more professional and were an easy sale.
i only made carts for a few weeks before the prices suddenly started dropping, pretty much overnight the carts went from 40-50 bucks, down to 25-30.
i knew right away that people were filling them with bullshit, because there's no way you can fill a cart with THC extract and sell it for 25 bucks and still make money.
thats when i sold all my packaging to someone and quit screwing with it...
i still have 3 flats of 510 threaded ccell carts that i use to make my own vape carts, enough to last me forever... but now that weed is rec legal where i live there's no use in trying to sell it. people don't trust vape carts unless they are coming from a shop where they know they are tested and legal.
I don’t know if China was to blame for this. I remember there being some confusion because the affected carts were all pretty much the same brand. But that’s because they were cheap (empty) carts purchased from China. They weren’t necessarily filled in China. And just because the packaging said “dank vapes” or whatever didn’t make it a specific brand or pinpoint a specific manufacture. They could have had anything in them. Basically the real culprit was greed and stupidity and that is something that is spread across both the US and China.
Yea many could have been filled and coming from China as well, this is the same country who gave us wuhan bio-nuke and enough fentanyl to take out every man woman and child of many cities.
when rec marijuana shops in CA and CO started outsourcing their packaging to china, china did what they always do and they sold that companies IP to anyone willing to fork over the cash. the guy out west who pioneered the "Brass knuckles" brand has been going through the battle with china for years now... every time he comes out with a new design to distinguish himself from the fake knockoffs... within a few weeks china is selling his new packaging to anyone with cash.
you can go on dhgate right now and still buy the ccells and the flat packed packaging complete with stickers to seal the boxes or a heat seal machine to seal the foil pouches.
dank vapes was a popular one, they were small paper boxes with cartoonish characters on the front artwork that indicated the flavor of the cart inside. they were popular for a few reasons... mainly because they were a very small box so they were easy to conceal and transport in large quantities.
this same sized box was also used for the "cereal" flavored ones that had all your favorite cartoon cereal company characters on the box. honey nut cherrios and fruity pebbles were best sellers.
exotics and mario carts came in the foil pouches and you could order a heat sealer to seal up the pouches.
i preferred the kingpens, they were a black box with the image of a king from a pack of cards. the box was bigger than the danks (and the cereals) but the finished package was much more impressive... had a sticker with that king logo to seal the box (making it look more official), and inside the box the cart was in a little black plastic pop-top tube nested in a cardboard holder. the packaging was way nicer and the black plastic tube helped prevent pressure induced leaking from temp swings. like it's own little insulated dead air space container that helped it stay intact.
when we bought them we'd buy a mixed box of 4 different "flavors" indicated on the final product box. when you made the "lemon haze" you just used lemon terps when you mixed the oil.
you could literally buy any brand packaging, with any flavor on the label, 100, 1,000, 10,000 at a time. cheaper the more you bought.
then all you needed to do was buy the empty ccell carts in flats of 100.
just search dhgate for "vape cart" and you'll see what i'm talking about.
nothing comes from china with any liquid in them, they are all empty carts and empty packaging letting you fill them with whatever you want.
responsible people filled them with THC extract.
but when that market got flooded with competition, shady people began putting all sorts of shit in them and selling them for cheap. you could literally fill them with citronella oil and idiots would smoke them.
no joke, a friend brought me one he suspected was fake and i'm convinced thats exactly what was inside it... smelled like it, flowed like it... i didn't try hitting it but he said when he did it tasted like a mosquito candle.
Yeah, notice how quickly they tried to ban vaping at the national level? All the vape sections immediately wiped out from the shelves while the tobacco remained. Big tobacco doesn't like their market share being threatened, so they try to outlaw the competition or at least push regulation in which they would have the resources to accommodate dominating that market too.

And where were these infected carts coming from?
Hint: the same country/agencies flooding our streets w fentanyl.

Wisconsin you say?
