If everyone remembers all the digging around drop 4414 shortly after the election steal, it’s the one with the RED1-6 then USSS, then at the end CASTLE_ROCK.
So everyone went digging to try and figure out what Castle Rock was. The movie studio, the movie sets, all of that.
So watching stand by me last night, I never realized it was set in a town called Castle Rock, Oregon.
So I checked to see if the town was real or just fictional. It turns out that it is a real town in the “Tillamook” region of Oregon.
So i got curious as to what “Tillamook” meant.
In the Chinook language it means “People of the village” but it’s also given the Coast Salish term meaning “Land of many waters”.
I don’t know if anyone has followed this path yet or not, or if it’s even relevant. But it struck my as odd that Castle Rock is in the “Land of many waters” and we were told to watch the water
Movie guy here with more info, explanation:
STAND BY ME was written by Stephen King, who uses Castle Rock as a fictional town in his stories. (The "Castle Rock" name is taken from the mountain fort in the old novel Lord of the Flies, in 1954). There was a Hulu show called CASTLE ROCK a year or two ago, an anthology of Stephen King storylines.
STAND BY ME was also directed by Rob Reiner, who then named his production company Castle Rock Entertainment and made a few more adaptations of King's stories over the years.
Good info fren. I didn’t know it actually tied into the Castle Rock production company stuff. I guess I could have done some more digging before posting lol
Yeah, pede, catching nuggets like you are is going to be the new normal for Patriots, who can't watch a movie now without seeing all the things that went right over our heads at the time. I watch movies with a TOTALLY different mindset. Even old black & whites have scenes that absolutely stand out for their 'new' deep meaning. Even the boring films are fascinating. Beautiful interiors, people arguing with no resulting injuries, gender-appropriate clothing & harmless streets where people wander freely.
I love old movies like The Outsiders cause things were so much better back then.
The real haunting thing is looking at kids eyes in old films. Sometimes you can see the puffy, bruising around eyes, panda eyes. It is heartbreaking and you know what must have gone on.
I wondered that too, pede. I look at the kids demeanor to see if I can see a hint of abuse
Heartbreaking isn’t it
Castle Rock Lake is the 4th largest lake in Wisconsin. Real pretty area. Nicknamed "Midwest's Best Kept Secret". I'm sure it's just coincidental though. <winkyface>
i don't know about any of that, but i do know that tillamok ice cream is pretty fucking delicious... and it comes with a foiled over top so you don't have to worry about some SAVAGE licking your ice cream and putting back in the freezer.
You can also order some Winning Energy Drinks they are out of Castle Rock, CO
Ahahaha definitely going to just for the can
That’s a good question
This is extremely cool. Nicely done.
Just watched it last night with my boys.
Population of Castle Rock is mentioned in the movie as 1281.
Another town called Durham is mentioned.
River Phoenix died outside the Viper Room from a suspicious & violent drug overdose.
Cory Feldman has been outspoken about the Hollywood pedo problems.
Stephen King, John Cusack and Rob Reiner have been very outspoken and critical of Trump.
