Huge Philip K Dick fan here, I stopped reading his books when everything started becoming true was just so depressing. Even his most farfetched ideas are like yep this is probably going to happen or already underway.
I'm pretty sure it's way worse than that. I'm not sure if this has happened to anybody else before. but I will be talking to a friend about Las Vegas And going to the MGM grand. And within 5 minutes on my phone I get a promotional email from the MGM Grand. Almost as if they're listening to everything I'm saying through my Mic. on my phone. This is just an example of one thing it happens all the time.

So I was on my phone to my friend last night. Who I didn’t realise was a conspiracy theorist, so we Talked about all the different ones all night. And it kept dropping out for a bit, it was strange enough for us to think we were being listened to. So we decided to call the listening in person Dave, and kept Asking Dave to join in, after a while the drop outs stopped. I think Dave liked us!
Only 'smart' devices in our home is our phones. I refuse to buy a smart TV, or any appliance that has 'smart' even attached to it.
We don't even have a ipad or anything, regular old PC and our phones.
I pretty much keep my mouth shut about anything but the normie talk when I'm in a home with one of those things. Being a contractor, it's one of the first things I look for when I go do a quote; smart devices and appliances. Will not talk to home owners about ANYTHING but the job, maybe mention my pups, if they have anything "smart" in their home.
I thought it would be a great idea to have some kind of small device that would detect Siri or Alexa nearby. It would audible when you walked in someone's house that had one. ...it could be an app on my phone....DOH!

And I haaate voice recognition software...
I have Alexas all over my house.
But they are wasting their time if they are devoting resources to listening.
My wonderful wife likes Trump but never wants to talk about conspiracies or anything like that, and I don't talk to anybody on the phone about it.
Alexa could listen to me watch videos, but I'm sure Google and the others already know everything I do online.
