Reddit started yesterday and users said it was to fight shared IP like VPNs. Fuck that. Yesterday and today.
Walmart kept ke verifying by pressing and holding a button every time is earched something or tried to log in. Today
Taco bell kept returning with errors and not letting me finalize my purchaese today.
This is frustrating as all hell and I'm not turning off my VPN. Period.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Only semi related but I would like to firmly lodge a complaint against all portals that ask for a password and then STILL send you a text or email code to enter before you access. Why even bother using passwords? Just email me the code and I'll use that as my access. Instead of having to remember 50 different passes all with numerals, letters, punctuation, some of which you cannot repeat and reuse when you inevitably forget your complicated password you don't even need because they can just text you the code

Preach it!
This.
If you order online they often have stuff like a free doritos taco with your purchase xD
Yes ... I'm having the same issue with Walmart today. Just want to look at f...ing curtains
I consider everything on the net as insecure. VPNs are excellent though, in defeating the geotagging that more and more sites do
I'm convinced my internet provider is able force my VPN to disconnect. I used Private Internet Access for a couple of years and then it started dropping the connection all of the time. After a few months, I decided to try Proton VPN and it's doing the same thing.
I'm using it on my phone.
Private Internet Access did that to me as well, but not express VPN. But it appears the IP addresses I am using through VPN are being flagged by the same 3 corporations at the same time out of nowhere.
Leads me to believe they all got a security update.
I don't think VPN's are secure, as it's reasonable to assume they are monitored/controlled as well. The only reason to get a VPN in my opinion is to alter the location you are from to gain access to other content
Yeah I suppose even though a lot of VPNs are based outside of 5 eyes territory, I guess it can still be tracked.
I have login issues like these if I cycle my VPN location.
You can tell a honey pot site because it will reject you when on a VPN. A lot of links like that here.
Getting a lot of mixed responses here, and it's a bit to take in.
I had the same issue with Express VPN, it became so bad I dropped the service. The VPN is not reliable in my experience and I had trouble with most sites, including GAW, while using it. I am now looking/researching for another VPN to use.
Give Mullvad a look.
Walmart now does the "click every sidewalk" picture BS EVERY TIME I LOGIN. Searching for more then three items? Guess what? "Click every motorcycle."
I should have stopped shopping there a long time ago anyway, but this is what finally did it for me. LOL
Are you on a VPN? For me it makes me press and hold a button for 5-10 seconds when I try to log in (and will give me an error when I put in my credentials). Price check? Press and hold, nothing found.
I wasn't using a VPN, just doing some normal shopping. (I like a particular in-house brand they have; guess I'll be learning to live without them.)
Wasn't there a bunch of posts a couple months ago where it was revealed about a concerted effort to end the usefulness of vpn's for private citizens?
Many here are saying VPNs are frauds anyway for the most part.
Is that really so? I did some digging a while back and was satisfied enough with Express VPN and could also support Bongino's show by using his code.
An ex of mine was a nasty person and had connections with a lot of tech savvy meth-abusing trolls that liked to make life hell for a lot of people and wanted to take no chances.
Welp, looks like when my term expires, I am out.
It literally just takes the suggestion of some random person on the internet for you to make life choices you claim are about keeping you safe from insane meth heads?
I posted this in another community and there are more people backing up that notion. I'll look deeper into legitimate VPNs, I'm not downloading torrents or anything and when long-term services expire, it's actually reasonable to reevaluate before renewing as lots of things change over the course of a year.
Is that difficult to comprehend?
I'm aware of that possibility but on the other it really cuts down on the list of "now who could have stolen my info this time?"
VPNs and a properly tuned browser are good for low hanging fruit. Honey pot sites that capture IPs and data. But you’re not stopping a nation state or mega corporation from finding out who you are if they want to. It’s like locking your door at night. A regular lock can be busted by most criminals. An advanced locking or door bar system will stop nearly any crook. But the local PD don’t care about any of that shit.
4chan just updated the captcha and it's unusable
