These are what based geeks look like. Note: hygiene, lack of ponytails and fedoras.
Thank you for doing good work, keep fighting for us!
As a geek who's worked with fedora for some seven years, screw computers. Satan's black magic is the only explanation for Windows' superiority, which ties right into Bill Gates.
Fedora is like our republic: it sucks, but it sucks less than all other Linux distros.
... Wait, not that "fedora"?
VP of Technology here with 25 years experience in custom software development.
Windows' superiority has stemmed from its usability, approachability, price, and open ecosystem.
Linux and other unix variants have only been approachable to the average user in recent years. I'm a techie (albeit not a hardcore one) and I only use Linux in a server capacity. I have ONE member of my 100+ person tech staff who uses Linux on his laptop, and its a dual boot with Windows.
Macs were always a closed ecosystem and could only run on Apple approved hardware. Price point has always been far too high. I still refuse to buy an iPhone.
Windows was all things to all people. Is it the best? Certainly not. But it had multiple avenues of appeal to the average consumer. And as you probably know, procurement decisions are usually not made by techies.
I'm an engineer in the defense industry and use Linux on my computers and without dual boot since 2013.
There's a very good pro/con case to be made that mission critical and high security industries like defense should ban Windows.
My company is in energy services, and some of our systems are subject to NERC CIP compliance standards. No Windows in any area of those platforms, other than the desktops of our operations staff, which are limited in functionality and on a closed internal network.
Ditto that.
LOL
What everyone thinks of as the hipster's fedora isn't a fedora at all.
It's a trilby. A dippy, silly little mini-fedora with a dippy, silly name.
A fedora is what Indiana Jones wore (which was cool back then before we learned Harrison Ford is probably one of [them]).
Instead of "superiority," I think "hegemony" would better describe Windows' position.
What about a man-bun? Is that the same as a pony tail?:)
