Addendum to my last reply. In these unsettled times the one place I would avoid at all costs would be any very large city.... NYC, LA, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago.... etc. They are already shitholes full of crime and squalor. But then add some major event that we here think is coming, and shitholes turn into war zones.
There is nothing (IMHO) in NYC worth risking one's life over. A nice drive across the country, or a stay in a serene place would be far preferable to me. Some suggestions.... Springdale, Utah (Zion Nat. Park), the Florida panhandle along the coast, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, western Virginia-North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. There are quite literally hundreds, if not thousands, of such places that offer a better vacation than NYC.
Stick to lower Manhattan and cab it when possible. Don't go to the Bronx or Queens. Brooklyn should be okay also but few tourists there so gets sketchy. The locals will fuck with you if they can tell you're lost/nervous. Really in NYC, just stick to yourself and mind your own business and you're generally fine. The shit doesn't usually go down in lower Manhattan because there's a higher police presence there for the tourists; even at night.
Tell her to stay out of the subways. NYC is very different now. So sad. I once worked for Mayor Koch, and back then it was amazing. Nonetheless, she'll have a great time.
She should bring her bible and a gun. She should pray for safety and the eyes to see trouble ahead. Perhaps this is God attempting to remove your sisters veil. She may finally see the state of our situation.
I lived in NYC pre covid. I don't know what it's like currently but if she's in Manhattan itself (rather than the boroughs) she should be fine. The subway was already getting pretty bad by the time I left but as long as she doesn't make eye contact with anyone (no joke) and is careful about what carriage she gets into it should be alright. If she's in Manhattan she can walk to a lot of places and that's what I would advise. If she's in a borough, there are some OK areas but transportation is annoying. If you find out where she's staying (borough or what part of Manhattan) I can advise further. I lived in Manhattan and every borough except the Bronx duding my time in the city.
It’s great in NYC, just tell her to stay in Manhattan and she’ll be fine. All boroughs are safe, but if you’re visiting alone, might as well just stick to Manhattan.
Oh OK, no worries then. Tell her to check out the MET museum, best museum in the city in my opinion, and right next door to Central Park. Great restaurants around there too.
The media likes to use scare tactics when it comes to NYC, but as a resident, I think it’s been better than ever.
Yeah, NYC is back in a big way, everything was shut down last year and it was just a ghost town. Now everywhere you go it's like a party, especially the West Village, Washington Square Park, and Brooklyn. And weed is finally legal, so everyone is way more relaxed in general.
Like I said, right-wing media has this whole crazy narrative about how the city is "falling apart" and hell holes, but it's total bullshit. My friends and I literally laugh about it because it's been one of the best years ever.

Believe me, I know it. She is stubborn as I am, so I don't see any point in trying to change her mind.
Well then... I have nothing more to suggest. We all make our choices, and then live with those choices.

NYC... you call that "living"? I'd rather live in Calcutta than NYC.

NYC is Asshoe
Hopefully she safe. A lot of feral joggers

Stay out of the city's if you have a choice, imo.

Her husband will be with her.
