Basically, a controlled Clown called Jim Jones created a "church", called the Peoples Temple, whose congregation consisted of mostly minorities. His tactics of control came straight from the Marxist handbook, using things like racism, sexism, equity etc. to indoctrinate. This was in California, unsurprisingly. After a few years his congregation grew into the hundreds, with people giving their possessions to the church.
Eventually, he takes those hundreds of people to Guyana, with the usual false promises of a Communist utopia. When the people get to the commune, they are worked like slaves and the place starts to fall into disrepair. Jim Jones refuses people to leave and eventually a congressman went out with worried family members of the congregation to find out what was going on.
Anyway, things happened and eventually the congressman decides to fly back with any member of the congregation that wants to leave, of which there were a few. While they were on the runway, armed militia stormed the airfield, shooting up the planes and people there. The congressman was killed, as was a number of others, but a small number escaped on foot and, if I'm remembering right, at least 2 of the planes managed to take off under fire.
After this, Jones knew it was game over for him, so ordered a mass suicide via loudspeakers (you can listen to recordings taken of those orders over on the WebArchive). Oh, I forgot to mention, he had also ran practice drills for this. It's also where the metaphor for "drinking the Kool-Aid" comes from.
A while later, 900+ corpses are found in the compound. Over the years, evidence has come out to show most didn't die from drinking the poison. Many were injected and others from straight up bullet wounds. Also, look at the pictures used by the press in the early days, who stacked the bodies? Anyway, I believe it was funded by some Clowns black budget.
That's from memory, but I think it covers most of what went on. It's an interesting rabbit hole to spend a while down.
I remember growing up and hearing about this being a religious cult experiement. When I was older I actually listened to the 40 minute tape recording of the mass suicide.
Times Jesus was mentioned: 0

Times escaping to Russia, communists, communism. was mentioned... several.
The D party loved Jim Jones as well - he would provide the campaign canvassing. He was connected with Brown, Carter. A little creepy when you look back.
The Congressman that was killed was Leo Ryan. Jackie Spier, who was his aide on that trip, was also shot (she now holds the seat).
As a congressional official, she is not my favorite person, but compared to the other Ds in the area - Pelosi, the idiot who slept with the CCP spy, Feinstein, Newsom she is rather quiet in all the CV mess. A couple of years ago, I was watching a documentary on Jonestown and they were interviewing her. I knew she had been there at the airstrip when Ryan was killed and had been shot as well. What I did not know was she almost lost her leg and arm to gangrene. I grew up here so I asked a friend if mine who also grew up here if she knew that and she was surprised like I was. I have to wonder if that experience and what is currently going on makes her uneasy.
I honestly believe it was a psyop experiment. I mean, they got near 1000 people to give up everything and move to a shithole in the middle of nowhere. Pretty sure whoever was pulling the strings called it a success.
It was a small scale practice run for what we're seeing large scale today. Jim Jones was a minor celebrity before he left the main land. Politicians and actors lined up to meet with him, speak to him and have their pic taken.
Liberation Theology is communism with a thin veneer of christianity. Black Liberation Theology is the same thing but tailored for black populations. Jeremiah Wright (Obama's pastor) is a BLT preacher.
I don't know anything about Jonestown, I never really looked into it. Can you expand on that?

This was a leftist indoctrination camp.

Thanks for the excellent synopsis. But, what was the motive?

Thank you for your response.
MKUltra moving offshore after the Church Commission in 1975 exposed the CIA brainwashing programs to the public.
Jones was pushing Socialism under the guise of religion. "Seductive Poison" and "A Thousand Lives" are a couple good books about the Peoples Temple.
Properly another CIA black op
Wow, I knew kind of what I'd heard on the news as a kid, but never read much about it. What a wild story.
I thought the UFO comet cult was Heaven's Gate, I didn't know of any Jonestine UFO connection.
You're thinking of the Heaven's Gate cult from 1997.
Don't you think Fauci has an uncanny resemblance to Marshall Applewhite?
So, Jim Jones was a satanist castrating dudes?
Look up Jim Jones and Liberation Theology. His cult is the source of the phrase "drink the kool-aide"
I know that much, I don't know what "he was really up to."
