Unplug them. Do more outdoors and take the kids with you.
No phones or unattended internet access at young ages. At the very least be there to teach them about what they are seeing and hearing so they do not get indoctrinated.
I know some conservative parents who made sure all computers were in the public area of the house so their sons could not just lock themselves up in their rooms. They homeschooled and had them in all sorts of outdoors stuff. All their boys went on to be the worst kind of Leftist. Two stopped speaking to their Trump-supporting parents and cut all ties.
They weren't extreme until they went to college. Even when all those steps are taken a lot get indoctrinated by the college asylum.
It's definitely tight. My siblings and I should have turned out leftists. My parents were strong liberals when we were young. The school teachers were also liberals. Yet somehow I felt like a freak among my classmates because I just knew by instinct that teachers were lying. I knew everything I was being pushed to do was wrong. My gut said "DON'T".
Even though my parents raised us liberal we all became strong conservatives and eventually turned my parents into conservatives (both are now Trump supporters and regret ever voting democrats).
I have never voted democrat. I was conservative from the start. Sometimes some people are just driven to certain ideology. I think the best way to protect kids from indoctrination is to help them learn to read lies. Sheltering them from lies won't stop it, but if they learn to realize lies then they're better protected.
I think there are a lot of factors that go with this. It's not just black and white. It's about raising your kids to have moral integrity so they can't be easily manipulated. The reason a people become more left after college is because they're weak willed and cave into peer pressure easily. I've seen it happen both ways. People I went to high school with that were either A-political or conservative went far left kool aid haired nazi in college with a dozen pronouns. And I've also seen people who ended up MORE conservative after college because they openly argued with the liberal professors, which just served to further embed their conservative values.
Honestly, I'm pretty sure this is all going to be a non factor in the near future anyway. College enrollment is down what? Like 40-60%? People are waking up to their horse crap. Once we clear out all of the propagandists and corrupt members of our institutions in "The Great Clean up", we won't have to worry about leftist indoctrination in higher or lower education. At that point it's just a matter of staying vigilant and not letting it get to the point it's currently at ever again, which I don't think will be much of a problem for at least a hundred years since everyone is going to be so paranoid about it after what we're going through now.
As OP I must clarify. In no way do I endorse state control. I agree that parents must be responsible. As a nation we must stop using video games, smart phones, and tv as babysitters. We need to engage with our children. Go outside. Get strong. Eat real food. The fandom thing here is disturbing, too. Look at who your children admire. Try to be your child's role model and introduce worthy ones.
This is something all parents can control.

I have also witnessed that. But now that people are aware, it can be something else for oarents to use.
Its a tightrope to expose kids with support so when tbey leave the nest they are not bombarded with leftist ideology.
