Military is a different animal. There's an argument for the other side here, too. Different world, different needs in the military.

This movie is turning into a massive episodic epic...
I know the author who turned the Merlin TV series into a novel, and he did very well with it. This operation would require a series of novels, something like 110 is my guess, and I'm not sure one author would live long enough to finish it.
At the risk of sounding sacrilegious, it would have to be written like the Bible, lots of books done by different authors....
After all of this is said and done, what were witnessing may become the Third Book. Something is going to have to come out for after this battle and added to The Bible so we can teach those generations what it was like, what happened, what was said, and what happened immediately after. It may take a hundred yrs or more for this to fully be dealt with. You can't just end 6,000+ yrs of "behind the scenes" plans and actions in just a few yrs.
If anyon bothers to look at it correctly, they'll see that the Bible teachings we were taught have continually fallen on deaf ears. What we're living now is the result of that mistake. The beginning of it, anyway.
WE have to be, and should be the people to catalogue it all, archive it all, and then write it up. If not, we'll still be doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again, until this all happens again. I don't know about you, but I believe this cycle must end and it should be US to end it.
As I read the bible, the United States Of America does not figure into biblical prophesy, which leads one to believe that we will not be a "player" on the world's stage when that time comes....

Robert Jordan, who wrote the 'Wheel of Time' series (14 books), knew he was dying and found a young author to finish the series for him. Maybe Martin should do the same. I think I remember reading he kind of petered out on another series of his.
I was gonna mention Jordan and WoT until I saw your comment. That story is awesome, and 1,000,000x better than any other fantasy scifi epic I've ever read. Part of me would like to see a series made out of it, but part of me doesn't because there's no way to really do WoT justice in that regard. It's just too long, to complex, and too good to be anything but a manuscript.

The thing about resigning commissions is, it can be denied based on numerous factors - primarily needs of the military, administrative/medical issues, and disciplinary issues. If you clearly violate the UCMJ like LtCol Scheller did, you will NOT be allowed out until that's cleared up.

I'm a former Combat Sailor, EOD. One who served under both Clinton and W. I saw it for myself when we were doing shit hunting for Bin Laden, hunting the rest of al Qaida and other terror orgs, monitoring & patrolling the DMZs and No Fly Zones in Iraq, and then again after 9/11. [they] had us ALL believing that what we were doing was right. Even the Libs that hated Bush and the Repubs and Libertarians who hated Clinton followed [their] orders. And some of the shit we were doing violated Int'l Law, foreign National Laws, and the Geneva Convention. Maybe even violated the Nuremberg Code, too. But we didn't care because we were CONVINCED that what we were doing was "right" and "just."

Can we keep close tabs and pictures on his mind, body, mental state every day he is in the brig? That way if they torture him we can let the rest of the military know what they do to their own soldiers. Where will they house him? Can someone put a recorder on him in event they torture him?
No. They're not even allowed meet with their lawyers as much as they would, or could, if they were a civilian. Some of the MP's that are on brig duty might, buy even that holds severe repercussions if they're caught.
He'll get his 3 squares, a shower a day, and a cot, and be treated half way decent by the guards, but they'll strictly follow the UCMJ and the Military Prisoner Manual to a "T."
JAG, on the other hand, will suppress info coming from his lawyers, his family, friends, coworkers, subordinates, and the rest of his Command. They'll put gah orders on everyone and demand they don't address the press (that will mosy likely be approved by the Judge, too). It'll most likely be 1 Judge because it's not a crime involving war crimes or treason. They'll limit his library time, if he gets any. They'll screen his mail and read all of his letters. They'll monitor his phone calls and visitations. They'll limit his meetings with his lawyers to about 3-4 per month (most likely it'll be 1 meeting every other week), and they'll limit his contact with the rest of his "camp" like that, too. And they most certainly won't allow his children there, because some of those other prisoners will be pedos and the military believes that a brig/prison is no place for a child to visit. It may have changed since I was a Brig Chaser at my last Command back in '03-04, but I'm not aware of any major changes to those practices and policies.
Thank you for this. The reason I think he will be abused is because your process occurred before our country was overthrown and we were still kind of following the U.S. Constitution.
