Well it did get 'stolen' - either it was the good guys getting the dirt on her, or it was her finding an excuse to dispense of a laptop she didn't want the contents being subpena-able. Like perhaps plans for a fake insurrection etc - do it on a specific laptop then claim it was stolen. Same way people here talk about 'boating accidents' and guns.
