Drop = to release or to unload.

Thanks. A bit confusing for me, though. We actually use the word "drop" in my language, and that means to stop doing something...
Drop can also mean that in english. Often the context determines which meaning.
But the context "NRA drops new add" seems very clear to me, and that is they published or intended to publish the ad, and then pulled it. Oh well, who am I to argue the meanings in a foreign language... :)
It's about context. "Company drops new ad for product" is different from "Company drops ad after complaints."
