Something about this story doesn’t make a lot of sense. McConnell’s health doesn’t appear to be good and he has signaled he might retire prior to the end of this term. What seems most strange is President Trump is supposedly targeting an election that far in the future. McConnell’s next election is in five years, two years past the 2024 election.

I am a Kentuckian and I would be shocked if McConnell runs for another term.
