Lastly of course are the massive mineral, metals and rare-earth deposits. In a nutshell....lots of room to stretch out without much in the way to obstruct. Australia is ridiculously rich in natural resources, South Australia for example is estimated to have over $3t worth of oil. A lot of people assume we are apart if the UK, but we are not - technically. The nuclear tech used (since the 60's) allows the boring machines to carve out at least 3 miles/day, leaving a sturdy, smooth, black glass lined tunnel while literally melting away anything in it's path- including the hardest earth elements such as granite, etc.
