I have to think what’s going on now would make founder Herb Kelleher puke, and then he’d punch Gary Kelly in the face.
Kelleher was a guru of a movement to put employees first—the notion that if a company empowers them to make decisions and cares about them as human beings, the workers will take care of the rest.
Part of that is because Dodge sued Ford in the early 1900s when Ford wanted to increase employee pay and benefits saying they are legally obligated to benefit shareholders first.
I got to meet Herb a few times. Quite the character and was always the life of the Party. He always had a half dozen Wild Turkeys lined up from his employees. Work hard and Play hard was the Company unofficial motto. Great memories..............

From what I've seen that attitude never survives past the original founder, someone after them always ruins it.
I wonder (((who)))
At this point I don't even need to check the "early life" section on wikipedia.
Yeah, because they have usually edited that out. ;)
Waltons especially...
