We also use lye to make whats called lutefisk here in Norway, its dried cod thats been soaking lye for a certain amount of time to soften it again, then soaked in water to remove the lye. Good with bacon and potatoes, supposedly, but I never developed a taste for it, regardless me being norwegian.
Norway! It's awesome to see all the countries represented on this site! There should be a post requesting anyone from a country outside the U.S. to post what country they are in. So far, in addition to Norway, I know of South Africa, Australia, and Great Britain. I would love to see the complete list. I'll go ahead and post the request.
Already in the works. GME and the market is the fat they’ve been feeding on, propped up by their lies. About time the two were… aggressively mixed. Then we’ll get a pure, clean system afterwards.
Technically the lye is consumed and none remains in hand made soap.
Yep, mom used to make lots of it using bacon grease. It was really good for washing clothes too.
How was the characteristics of the soap? We make a pure vegetable/fruit seed oil blend and a tallow heavy mix that have similar properties.

Don’t the germans do something similar with pretzels?
Hard and gratable for the laundry. Good for the skin. She didn't do the scent stuff. It was really good stuff though.
Technically he is correct: They do lie more than the lye in homemade soap, which doesn't lie, or even speak at all.
I spent years making cold process soaps. Still have some rock hard bars in the barn that will last forever. Awesome stuff.
Interesting how both lye and a lie are caustic!
Most excellent observation. All we need do now is saponify the leftist lies into something good and cleansing!
