I very got one just like it, you can shoot thousands of rounds without cleaning and it never jambs.
They ARE very good rifles, especially the ones made while Bill Ruger was still alive. After he passed, the accountants moved in to make money saving "improvements." Still they're good products. Some in depth articles I have read over the years would indicate that while the Mini-14 is suitable for home defense, police use, and varmint hunting. they might not hold up under the rigors of out and out combat in the field.
If you're going to go "down range" with armed bad guys, use the AR-15, AK-47, or even the SKS... they are all battle proven.
I've got a 3×9 scope on it,and am considering a red dot scope,do you have any suggestions for a good economical product?
I'd stick with the scope. Anything that needs batteries will go out on you at the worst possible moment. Scopes have over a 100 year proven record, so the simplest technology is best, in my humble opinion.

He is a white separatist and openly anti-semitic. This is fact, not character assassination.
The point is that is entirely irrelevant. Liberty does not discriminate and rights don't evaporate simply because of someone's personal beliefs.
I mean a man can be both a separatist AND defend his family. Just sayin'.
If I recall correctly, his lawyer was either Jewish or at least told him to his face he found his worldview to be depraved and detestable. But that doesn't mean the government can just trample on you.
The idea of "all jews" is complicated, because even if a jew is not an evil talmudist, the secular, atheist commie jews are more destructive. But there are plenty of exceptions who reject both, the smart and ethical. Bobby Fischer is one example and they ruined his life for not allowing "his tribe" to control him. I have sympathy and respect or jews who refuse to be controlled by the jewish cabal.
