It’s not just because POTATUS uses it all of the time.
It’s because the agenda of pushing transgenderism, asking for pronouns, and everything else associated with it is working in the public sphere. Because you’re not allowed to just call a group “guys” or “ladies” anymore.
Anyone else irritated by this?
Uhhh folks is a term for a couple that is generally older. STOP letting douchebags steal terms just because you feel like you can’t say “guys” anymore don’t let them twist it up so bad that you don’t use other terms because of how bad they have screwed it over. Do your thing, be yourself, the small group of loud people will fade
Stack Exchange on the matter
They absolutely turn our language against us, just like rewriting the definition of vaccine in the dictionary to fit their agenda.
That’s why it bothers me. I’m now awake, and these attempts to play mind games are constant.
Haven’t been on Reddit in over a year.
If you start paying attention, you’ll find they use it on the news, most websites, and other areas of social influence.
Yeah, you're overreacting. It's always been used in some regions more than others. And what else do you call a mixed male-female group of people? It's a fine word by itself, it'll be fine later. Y'all and all y'all work sometimes, but we don't want them city folk to appropriate that neither. Even if it's a passive aggressive defensive language mechanism, it's still small potatoes.
Some folks get their panties in a wad over the most trivial stuff.
I don’t consider it trivial considering one of the CRT/“woke” tactics is to “reclaim” words for the narrative.
I don't pay to much attention to what woke folks do.
Folks isn't political, it's just folksy.
felt that way about a few phrases including that one
I had the LGBTQ training and it said I can’t call old ladies ma’am or old men sir. That was weird. I’m gonna get fired for saying, “sir, the door is this way…”
C'mon, folks, I dont think he means that.
yes its way out of hand ridiculous
Yes, it annoys the heck out of me. I'd also like to get rid of the word "debunked"
And the phrases, "GET IN HERE!!!!!" & "Let that sink in"🐸
Yes! Totally agree
I am now. Thanks a lot fren.
It's just another word for people. It comes from German, as in the "people's vehicle," or the Volkswagen.
Hell yes, someone else also noticed! I hate it especially when potato uses it. Sounds so condescending coming from him.
FOLK JOE BIIIDEN!
What do I say? Hey person! Hey beard face! Hey monster tits!
I kinda like "beard face"🐸
Potatus uses it cuz Obama is in his ear, probly
Yikes! Um, actually, I am not irritated by the word folks - I mean, I use that word when I refer to my parents and I also use it when I am referring to people I don't really know. POTATUS does irritate me and the pushing of pronouns in regard to transgenderism irritates me, too.
Using it to refer to your parents or family doesn’t bother me as much as lecturing people with the term on social media, substituting the -ks for -x at the end, government using it, or people forcing it.
But the term of endearment is getting twisted in the vernacular by these people, and it’s not fun to watch it playing it out.
Trump used it from time to time when addressing the crowds. I kinda liked when he used that expression to be honest. Biden is generally tedious to listen to, so expressions he uses tend to get tired-out fast. But I don't mind "folks" personally.
