This reminds me of a 70's episode of either McMillan & Wife or Columbo where a TV star had someone they needed dead to switch out the prop gun switched with a Real one. Come to think it was a Columbo episode but possibly Murder She Wrote, one of the two- I KNOW I've seen this plot before.
